Buathong Thai Cuisine: Authentic Thai Dining in Portland

Wow! What a find! 5star mom and pop spot. We’re somewhat new to OR, still exploring the plentiful restaurant options and have tried a number of Thai restaurants. I now have this place on top of the list for authentic Thai food. Worth the 20 minute drive - satisfied and stuffed. We ordered the crying tiger flank steak, pad thai noodles and seafood red curry. Seems a little pricey at first but some orders are 2 item combos and they don’t skimp. People were not kidding about the serving size. Our order could have fed a group of 4 adults or family of 5. As far as flavor- so good! Red curry medium heat had just enough kick - the addictive kind and overall delish umami. Pad Thai was saucy- good tamarind flavor. Steak was tender and perfect balance of sweet and salty. And the restaurant was very clean- bathroom cleaned thoroughly. You could really tell the owners take so much pride in the restaurant, their food and appreciative of their customers.

The food is fantastic and legit Thai food. It is reasonably priced because the portions are enormous. It probably can serve 2-3 people. The Shrimp salad roll was refreshing and good. The crying tiger pad Thai was huge and tasty. It comes with regular pad Thai and chicken and has a large portion of beef. I also got Thai iced tea, and it was delicious. I would definitely go again!

We decided to have Thai food at this restaurant today. I ordered 2 orders of Salad Rolls, Papaya salad with Crispy Chicken, Red Curry Seafood Combination, Pad Kee Mao, Pad Thai, Garlic and Broccoli Pork and Sticky Rice. All these dishes were awesome, they had so much flavor and tasted delicious. Each dish had its own unique tasting delicious flavor. Not where some places all the dishes look different, but tasted all the same. And I know that a lot of us have been to places like that before. The dishes they brought out were pretty big in size. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant. This restaurant seems pretty popular, because when we were there, it was pretty packed with people. Only one server/waiter, so please be patient and try out the awesome tasting food.

Wow! This is such a gem of a place! The quality of the food is spot on and HIGHLY recommend sharing as the orders are plenty for 2 or 3 people to share.

The best Thai food I've had in a long time! Immediately. The salad rolls are huge and definitely worth it :) . Very welcoming too, kind staff . Excellent good and service, thank you !! I would give this place 10 stars if I could .

Everything I’ve tried so far I love. One of my favorite Thai spots. I like to get pineapple crab fried rice and share with my partner and we still end up having leftovers between the two of us for one order of it

When we first pulled up, I’ll admit we were a little hesitant since it’s located right next to a marijuana dispensary. With kids in tow, that gave us pause. But once we walked inside, those concerns quickly faded. The restaurant was clean, organized, and clearly well cared for. It had a comfortable, relaxed, family-style atmosphere. Nothing flashy — just a solid neighborhood spot that takes pride in what they’re doing. I was genuinely surprised by how large the menu is. The selection is extensive — curries, stir-fries, noodle dishes, soups, and plenty of variety for different tastes. We started with egg rolls, and I have to say — they were the biggest egg rolls I’ve ever seen at a Thai restaurant. Substantial, well-filled, and clearly more than just a small appetizer. I ordered the pumpkin curry. It was flavorful and well-balanced. My throat was acting up that day, which made it a little harder for me to fully enjoy it, but the dish itself was very good. My wife had the Massaman curry and thought it was rich and satisfying. The boys ordered pho — four bowls between them — and while they ate it, they felt the broth leaned a little sweeter than their preference. That’s obviously subjective, but worth noting if you prefer a more savory-style broth. One thing we did notice was the pricing. We felt the prices were on the higher side compared to similar Thai restaurants we’ve visited. The food quality was good, and portions were fair, but the overall cost is something to be aware of if you’re dining with a family. Overall, it was a good experience. Clean environment, large menu, generous portions, and solid flavor — just with pricing that may feel a bit premium.
